Position Description

The Sunday School Teacher is responsible for supporting the church’s children’s ministry by creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn about God, grow in their faith, and develop positive relationships with others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach or assist with age-appropriate Bible lessons, stories, and activities.
  • Help children understand and apply biblical teachings in their everyday lives.
  • Prepare and organize Sunday School lessons, crafts, games, and other activities.
  • Organize and help with running events such as Christmas and thanksgiving events! 
  • Welcome children and help them feel safe, valued, and included.
  • Supervise children during Sunday School and maintain a positive and respectful environment.
  • Encourage participation, questions, discussion, and learning.
  • Support the lead teacher with classroom management and activities.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding a child’s wellbeing or behaviour to the appropriate ministry leader.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom.
  • Participate in ministry meetings, training, and other children’s ministry activities when required.
  • Serve as a positive Christian role model through attitude, behaviour, and interaction with children.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A genuine love for children and a desire to serve in children’s ministry.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the values of the church.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children in an encouraging and age-appropriate manner.
  • Responsible, dependable, patient, and able to work well with others.
  • Previous experience working with children is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, volunteers, parents, and church leadership.
  • Willingness to follow all church policies and child-safety procedures.

Position Details & Requirements 

  • Our church service is weekly on Sundays at 1pm - 3pm. 
  • The weekly hours are 3-4 hours per week and the pay is $19.50 per hour
  • Get a Vulnerable Sector Check with the local police station. 
  • Completion of any required church training and child-safety screening.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and professional conduct when interacting with children.
  • Respect confidentiality regarding children and families.
