Department: Lead Pastor
Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (40 hours / week)
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday and Sunday
Start date: December 2026
Duration: Maternity leave coverage; December 2026 - December 2027
Job Summary:
The Lead Pastor Assistant contributes to the efficient day-to-day operations of the Lead Pastor and supports the work of managing his time. This position will work regularly with sensitive and/or confidential information.
Primary Duties (including but not limited to):
Administration: Tuesday - Friday
- Organize and manage the Lead Pastor’s schedule for appointments,meetings, and connection points
- Respond to and send emails on the Lead Pastor’s behalf
- Prepare and maintain the Lead Pastor’s office and supplies
- Complete “to do” lists given by the Lead Pastor every day
- Assist the Lead Pastor in researching and preparing for Sermons
- Organize and manage the Lead Pastor’s teaching and preaching materials
- Organize specific details as they relate to Sunday messages (props, special elements, etc.)
- Make use of software like Word, Power-Point, and Pro-Presenter to make presentations for the Lead Pastor as required
- Record and transmit meeting minutes and follow up on tasks assigned by the Lead Pastor to other staff
- Research, edit, and circulate info as required and provide administrative support
- Establish agendas and necessary requirements for meetings and ensure they have been seen to completion
- Assist with the timely distribution of material to the Stewardship Team and the Elder Team
- Assist in booking, planning, and overseeing details for events, conferences, etc., as given
- Schedule connections with Staff
- Maintain filing system(s)
- Maintain the Lead Pastor’s vehicle for meetings and conferences
- Complete expense reports and credit card expenditure reports
Sundays
Partner with and assist our Kids Ministry teams to serve in Waumba Land (preschool) and/or Upstreet (elementary). This dynamic role may include leading preschool rooms, leading large groups, facilitating small group discussions, and providing flexible assistance to ensure service excellence.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience valued and required:
- Grade 12 plus previous experience or completion of business /administrative courses
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Excel, and the use of technology
- Maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to function effectively with the appropriate authority as determined by the Lead Pastor
- Ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of the Lead Pastor
- Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness; ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary; able to take directives from Lead Pastor; must be self- motivated
- Excellent time management skills; attention to detail; the capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency; ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, create/ implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals; and ability to make clear, timely decisions
