Position Description

St. Christopher’s Anglican Church is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time English Lay Pastor (20–30 hours per week) to lead our English-speaking congregation. The successful candidate will provide pastoral leadership, help grow the church, and respond to the evolving spiritual and ministry needs of the congregation. The possibility of transitioning to a full-time position may be considered after an initial six-month period.

St. Christopher’s is a vibrant parish with a Chinese heritage and an English-speaking congregation in the heart of Richmond Hill. We have a strong sense of mission and are committed to sharing the Gospel, nurturing believers, caring for one another, and serving the wider community. Our English Ministry has a dynamic worship music team and an active Sunday School.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about ministry development and enjoys working with children, youth, and adults. Previous ministry experiences in discipleship, evangelism, pastoral care, and developing lay leaders are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead English Sunday worship services and youth outreach program.  Preach two to three times per month.
• Oversee and support adult small groups and children’s ministry.
• Work collaboratively with lay leaders to develop and communicate a vision and direction for the English congregation.
• Equip and encourage congregation members to grow as disciples and become ministers of Jesus Christ.
• Provide pastoral leadership in reaching out to the wider community and sharing the gospel.
• Work collaboratively with ministry teams and lay leaders to nurture spiritual growth and strengthen the congregation.
• Lead English Ministry meeting, related subcommittees, and attending board meetings.

Qualifications

• Theologically trained in accredited seminary is required
• Previous pastoral experience is preferred
• The ability to work collaboratively, build relationships, and inspire others in ministry is essential. Knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be an asset.

Expected Salary

• $29 - $34 per hour
