Position Type: Part-Time (approx. 6–8 regular weekly hours + seasonal outreach hours)

Kennedy Road Church of the Nazarene is a vibrant Christian community dedicated to "Making Christlike Disciples in Our Community." Connected closely with our church is Kiddy Kare Day Care. Together, we strive to build a healthy, spirit-filled foundation for families in our neighborhood.

The Opportunity & Goal

We are seeking a passionate, creative leader to serve simultaneously as our Children’s Pastor and Daycare Chaplain. The central goal of this unique role is twofold: to nurture an engaging, vibrant children’s ministry within our congregation, and to cultivate a strategic, evangelistic connection to the community by building relationships with the families of our daycare.

Core Responsibilities

Daycare Chaplaincy (3–4 hours/week) on a weekday

• Conduct energetic, age-appropriate chapel services once per week for preschool and school-age children.
• Foster a warm, welcoming presence to connect with daycare staff, children, and parents.
• Serve as a spiritual resource and bridge between daycare families and the church.

Church Children's Ministry (3–4 hours/week) Sunday

• Oversee, prepare, and lead the weekly Sunday School program at Kennedy Road Church.
• Provide a fun, safe, and spiritually enriching environment where children can learn to follow Jesus.
• Recruit, equip, and encourage volunteer helpers from the congregation.

Seasonal & Community Outreach (Hours vary based on events)

Plan, coordinate, and execute key outreach events and seasonal ministries throughout the year, including:

• Hallowe'en community events
• Christmas programs
• Valentine’s Day activities
• Summer Vacation Bible School (VBS)
• Summer BBQ community outreaches

Qualifications & Character Traits

• A clear, vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for evangelism.
• Alignment with the theological doctrines, values, and mission of the Church of the Nazarene.
• Proven experience teaching, leading, and managing groups of preschool and school-age children.
• Excellent relational skills with the ability to connect easily with young families, volunteers, and daycare staff.
• Creative, organized, energetic, and self-motivated.
• Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
